About

Founded in 1924 and incorporated in 1957 by Herbert Goodsell, and later run by his son John Goodsell, H Goodsell & Son has been trading for almost a century. In that time, we have worked on everything from housing to castles, schools to bomb disposal facilities and commercial premises to listed buildings and scheduled monuments. Our story started with new building housing in the Maidstone area and rapidly grew across Kent and the South East. During the second world war we were present at Dover castle as builders for the Ministry of Works, a relationship which was maintained long after the war, working for the Ministry of Defence until the early 2000’s. As time progressed we grew further, building a new secondary school in Canterbury in the 50’s as well as a host of other commercial, public and residential premises. Since then we have worked on almost every type of building and environment our industry has to offer and have endured through wars, recessions, hurricanes and the ever changing cultural and political world around us.

Over the years we have sought to maintain the service and skillsets of a traditional builder while positioning ourselves to deliver all the complexities of a modern commercial contract. H Goodsell offer a full range of services from minor works to full commercial new build contracts. If you have a project you would like to discuss with us, or wish to find out more about the services we can offer please feel free to get in touch with our team.
